Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their strong IPL 2026 campaign with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Punjab Kings at the beautiful HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. In front of a packed crowd and stunning mountain views, fans witnessed a high-scoring contest filled with explosive batting, momentum swings, and late drama.
Punjab Kings posted a challenging total of 201/7 in 20 overs after a brilliant batting performance from Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone. Dhawan anchored the innings with a classy 68 off 42 balls, while Livingstone changed the momentum with an aggressive 47 off just 21 deliveries. Punjab looked set for a total above 215, but RCB bowlers made an excellent comeback during the death overs. Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role by dismissing Livingstone and controlling the scoring in the final overs.
In reply, RCB approached the chase with confidence and fearless intent. Virat Kohli once again proved why he remains one of the greatest IPL batters. The former RCB captain played a sensational knock of 84 runs from 51 balls, perfectly balancing aggression and smart strike rotation. Glenn Maxwell added quick runs in the middle overs and built a crucial partnership with Kohli that shifted the game in Bengaluru’s favor.
Punjab Kings struggled with their bowling execution during the final overs. Missed yorkers, poor field placements, and a costly dropped catch of Kohli ultimately hurt their chances of defending the target.
With this important win, RCB strengthened their position in the IPL 2026 points table and continued building momentum in the playoff race. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, will need to improve their death bowling if they want to stay competitive in the tournament.
